The anti-federalists believed that the constitution would give the government too much power over the states and the people within it. Before ratifying the constitution we know today, a bill of rights had to be added so anti-federalists would agree with the legislation. The bill of rights were the first ten amendments in the constitution that gave us most of our freedoms like freedom of speech or right to a speedy trial.
