If the correlation between two variables is .496, what is the coefficient of determination

Actually the coefficient of determination is simply equivalent to the square of the value of the  correlation between any two variables, that is:

coefficient of determination = (correlation)^2

 

Therefore calculating for the coefficient of determination:

coefficient of determination = (0.496)^2 = 0.246
