How to tell if lines are perpendicular parallel or neither?

Check the slopes of the given lines; 

1) If they are the same, the lines are parallel 

2) If they are negative reciprocal (reverse the number and put an opposite sign), then it is a perpendicular line 

3) If the slopes are not fitting the above description, they are neither.
