well if u put the right formula in it will work. To check if it will work before you press enter you do this:
As your typing the formula in stuff from the bottom will show you information or an example of how to do it. This means that after you type in the formula is in but writing is still below it this means its not gonna work but if its gone press enter and it should do the formula for u
