Given:

Right triangle.

Base = 10

Hypotenuse = 26

To find:

The missing side length

Solution:

Let the missing side length be x.

Using Pythagoras theorem:

In right triangle, square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

[tex]10^2+x^2=26^2[/tex]

[tex]100+x^2=676[/tex]

Subtract 100 from both sides.

[tex]100+x^2-100=676-100[/tex]

[tex]x^2=576[/tex]

Taking square root on both sides.

[tex]x=24[/tex]

The missing side length of the right triangle is 24.
