Seismology is the study of earthquakes, and it tells us where fault lines are that can then help us determine where earthquakes could happen so we can prepare for an inevitable quake. We cannot predict when an earthquake will happen just yet, but in the future we probably will. We know the different types of Fault Boundaries because of Plate Tectonics.
