What might happen to the fruit fly population as the apple decomposes

Answer: It will increase.

Fruit flies form when a sweet fruit rots, and turns black. If the apple decomposes, it is very likely that the fruit fly population will increase because more of the apple will rot, and there will be more space for fruit flies to give birth to their children.
