Distance varies directly as the square of the time it falls
⇒
s=kt^2
condition –> 64 feet in 1 second
s=kt^2
64=k(1)^2
64=k

s=64t^2

first part (how far will it fall in 5 seconds)

s=64(5)^2
s=1600

second part(how long will it take an object to fall 256 feet)

256=64t^2
256/64=t^2
4=t^2
√4=t
2=t
