What was the purpose of the Code of Hammurabi in the ancient civilization of Babylon?

The Code of Hammurabi was created to allow the people to accept the authority of their King. The code of Hammurabi contains all the laws that should be followed by the people of the land. People who are found going against the Code of Hammurabi will be punished in accordance to the laws written in the code.
